A three-foot-tall robot walked towards a door with a pair of scissors in its hand, and cut the ribbon. This rather unconventional inaugural ceremony was seen during the inauguration of the very first and high tech Robotics Lab of the Gujarat at Silver Oak College of Engineering & Technology, Ahmedabad.

The high tech robotics laboratory has been inaugurated today by Dr. Akshai Aggarwal, vice chancellor of Gujarat Technological University in Silver Oak College.

“It’s the first industrial robotic laboratory in the state. With dependency of robots increasing in industries, the lab will bridge the gap between industry and academics by providing hands on robotic sessions to the students,” said Dr. P K Shah, principal of Silver Oak College of Engineering & Technology.

“It is only a one-of-its kind laboratory which will give students a hands-on experience about industrial robots which are becoming popular with each passing day across the state.” said Pulkit Gaur, chief technical officer of GridBot Technical Pvt Ltd.

“The laboratory has been set up at a cost of Rs 2 crore and will have robotic platforms and different industrial robots. The students will be made industry ready with the training which will be extended to aspiring engineers in the state.” said Pulkit Gaur who has set up a robotic lab in a school at Gandhinagar.
