Movie Review: Once Upon a time in Mumbaai Dobara

Once Upon a time in Mumbaai Dobara was supposed to be a sequence of Once Upon a time in Mumbaai (Ajay Devgn, Emraan Hashmi, Prachi Desai and Kangana Ranaut starer). But the movie has no connection with the first part of the series. Once Upon a time in Mumbai is a love story. A love triangle between the three protagonists Akshay Kumar, Imran Khan and Sonakshi Sinha. Akshay Kumar aka Shoaib Khan is an underworld don of Mumbai and Imran Khan aka Aslam is his right hand. One day Akshay meets Sonakshi and at the same time Imran meets her. Both fall in love with Sonakshi. And the movie is all about who makes a pair at the end. Direction of the movie is good. Story could have been better. Script of the movie is brilliant and contains lot of impressive dialogues. Akshay Kumar’s acting is very good. Sonakshi in her role is excellent. Imran Khan is not suitable for the role of mafia although he has given his best. First half is very good. Starting of second half may bore you, but the climax is awesome. Music and background score are very good.

Plus and Minus of the movie

OUATIMD is a love story. So it will bring a little disappointment to all those who have watched Once Upon a time in Mumbaai and are expecting serious Mafia story from the movie. Story is so common. The film doesn’t fit into the name of the film. This is the only minus point of the movie according to me.

Dialogues are the biggest plus point. Movie is packed with Damdaar dialogues. You’ll miss a dialogue if you will blink once. Script of the movie is plus point. Background score in the first half is same as the first part of the movie- Once Upon a time in Mumbaai. Music and Background score is impressive. Overall performances are impressive and a plus point of the movie.

The movie commences from where the previous film ended with Shoaib Khan (Akshay Kumar) being the reigning don after successfully assassinating his mentor as well as his predecessor, Sultan Mirza (Ajay Devgn) thus earning the respect and reverence of the people. He is the charismatic and suave man with womanizing skills who has extended his empire upto the Middle east on the west. His sole companions and friends are Javed, who oversees his illegal and shady works for him, his old-time love Mumtaz (Sonali Bendre) and Aslam (Imran Khan), a youth spotted by Shoaib during one of his visits to the slums, where he once spent the early years of his life.

The only obstacles on Shoaib’s path to supremacy in Bombay are two enemies of Shoaib, Vardha and Arun. Sreenu, a police officer joins hands with Vardha and Arjun as the trio’s intention of ruining Shoaib coincides.

Although the city still being his first love a rising starlet, Jasmine has caught the fancy of Shoaib’s heart. In due time this passion takes the shape of obsession and leads to a rift between Shoaib and Aslam as they both vie for Jasmine’s love.

OUATIMD is a love story. So if you are expecting an action thriller mafia story as seen in it’s first part, the second part may disappoint you. Dialogues in the movie are excellent. Overall it’s an awesome movie. Recommended from
