Movie Review: Shuddh Desi Romance

Shuddh Desi Romance is a kind of movie which focuses on the love related confusions of the younger generation. It is one charming movie which gets you in the skin of the character and you will surely love all the characters. It also display the current status of commitment in youth in today’s time, it’s a brilliant work from the director! Some part of the film is like a dull radio play. The three main characters in this lust-triangle just speak about their pathetic self limiting world. Parineeti’s liberal, cigarette-smoking and yet normal love-seeking girl’s character is the true soul of the film. It is brilliantly written, good screenplay, dialogues make you smile even when the situation is unfunny, story is good, and you will find the superb chemistry between Shushant Singh Rajput and Parineeti Chopra in every scene. Vaani Kapoor makes a strong impact and the glue of the movie is Rishi Kapoor! First half of the movie is quite impressive while the second half drags it down.

Raghu Ram (Sushant Singh Rajput) is a tourist guide in Jaipur, who also doubles up as rental baraati for Goyal (Rishi Kapoor), a wedding planner. Raghu is suffering from pre-marital jitters. On his way to his wedding venue, Raghu meets Gayatri (Parineeti Chopra), an open minded, free willed, independent woman who lives life on her own terms. An already confused Raghu, heavily impressed by her freedom, gathers the guts to run away from his own wedding.

A fortnight later, the two meet and begin dating. Entering into a live-in-relationship, the two decide to get married. On the day of the wedding, Gayatri runs out on him, and Raghu is left inconsolably confused.

Soon after, at a wedding, Raghu meets Tara (Vaani Kapoor), the woman he was going to tie the knot with, before he met Gayatri. She asks him out initially on a revenge trip but slowly their relationship turns serious. Just as he is about to ask her to marry him, Gayatri re-enters his life.

Plus Point

Chemistry between Shushant and Parineeti and impressive acting from Vaani Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor

Minus Point

Script in the second half is very weak and director was unable to finish it on a high note And a large no of kisses (i.e 27) which makes no sense.

Its an Above average movie which is surely going to get a good opening and will sustain in the market because of its quality content. So all in all a much better movie which takes out 3 bits out of 5 from me. Its a recommended movie from
