Movie Review: Ramleela

Raamleela, the most awaited movie hit the screens today, after lot of controversies. And as I was expecting from the trailer, the movie is undoubtedly brilliant! Set in Gujarat, Raamleela is Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s modified version of Shakespeare’s most popular play Romeo and Juliet. Story is very good. Direction of the movie is excellent! Hats off to Sanjay Leela Bhansali for this masterpiece! The most amazing and impressive thing of the movie is its background score! Gujarati folk themed background score of the movie is outstanding and the charm of the movie. Songs are good though Priyanka Chopra’s item number was not needful.

Performances by every actors in the movie is amazingly brilliant. Ranveer Singh as Ram in Ramleela has set a new level of his acting skills. Deepika Padukone has played role of Leela very gorgeously! Supriya Pathak’s negative role is excellent and damdaar (powerful). She has really done a great job! Overall acting by everyone is brilliant.

Deepika’s garba steps are breathtaking. Choreography of the songs by Ganesh Acharya is superb. Cinematography of the movie is very very good. Colorful set, beautiful locations, Gujarati falk in background are trademark of Sanjay Leela Bhansali and privilege to watch in Ramleela.

First half of the movie is charming, and comic to some extent. Violence and khun-kharaba is at its pick in the first half. Ranveer Singh is playing a playboy type of character in the first half which turns into a serious Don after the interval. Rabari word (A Caste in Gujarat) is changed to Rajadi in whole movie in dubbing.

We won’t reveal the story. But you’ll love the story for sure.

Ramleela is a musical saga, a modified version of Romeo Juliet’s love story in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gujarati version. It’s a masterpiece! A great gift from Bhansali to bollywood. Ramleela is the best love story ever said in bollywood. Direction, Gujarati falk themed background score, cinematography, Deepika’s breathtaking Garba steps, performances of all leads are brilliant! Excellent movie from Sanjay Leela Bhansali. A must must watch!
