40,000 Surtis ran at Surat Night Marathon in presence of Narendra Modi and Milkha Singh!

Surat: Very first full night marathon of India was arranged in the Diamond city, Surat yesterday. More than 40,000 Surtis participated in this night marathon. More than 7 lakh Surtis came out on roads to cheer the national and international participants of the marathon.

BJP’s prime ministerial candidate and chief minister of Gujarat Narendra Modi and the legendary athlete Milkha flagged off the marathon.

“Surat gets the credit for pioneering the concept of night marathon in Gujarat,” Modi said.

The marathon was organized to raise funds for CCTV network in the city and also to help Cancer patients. Total prize of Rs 22.68 Lakh was given out to the winners.

State minister Nanu Vanani, Surat’s Mayor Niranjan Zanzmera, police commissioner Rakesh Asthana, BJP MP from Navsari C R Patil were present on the occasion. Singing sensation Shreya Ghoshal encouraged participants with her singing. Shweta Tiwari was also present at the marathon to encourage runners.
