2 States collects ten crore on first day with third best opening of 2014

2 States, a bollywood love story adopted from Chetan Bhagat’s best seller novel 2 States, directed by Abhishek Varman and produced by Karan Johar and Sajid Nadiadwala released today all over India. The movie has collected around ten crores on the box office on very first day with the third best opening of this year after Jai Ho and Gunday.

The multiplex collections of the film across India are good with bigger cities being very good. The first day total is looking on a course for a total around the 10 crore nett mark going by collections till late afternoon. The final total for day one could be a slightly higher or lower than 10 crore but even at a worse case scenario it will the third biggest opening day of the year after Jai Ho and Gunday.

2 States opened very well at multiplexes with collections around the 50-55%. The opening is much stronger than would be expected for the cast with metro multiplexes recording very good collections and even other major centres collecting well.

The opening is the third best of 2014 after Jai Ho and Gunday. The single screen opening is likely to be weaker although it may also be helped by the holiday but not to the extent of  multiplexes as it has little face value and the content is not for single screens. The film will have a very good first day and it remains to be seen how big a success the film can emerge.
