Monsoon is here, almost. This season of rains is the best time for watching movies. “YES” it’s true, the reason being that when you are at home and its cold outside but still you put on your air conditioners just to make your room like a refrigerator (at least I do that) and then a hot cup of coffee or green tea (new in fashion) and just watch movies on the laptop or in my case a big screen at home and listen to the rain falling outside is just amazing. (I know it’s a lot to imagine still…bear with me!)
So now the main question arises “Movie”? Which one? What genre? The answer is simple which ever you like. Whichever you think “completes you”. It could be anything from action to thriller to romance or a comedy it’s all about you, we always tend to watch movies in which we find ourselves. Just imagine that you are in you warm soft bed, curled up in your blanket (alone) and just watch what you fill like. My all time favorites monsoon movies include “The Godfather”, “Lootera” ,”Udaan”, “The shining”, “Star wars” ,”Edge of tomorrow”, “Yeh Jawani hai dewaani” etc.
The list goes on and on. There are many movies which require a certain mood to absorb and they are usually “drama”. I have been told that dramas are unbearable but monsoon makes them bearable, it works like this, when you can’t go out of your house due to rain you don’t end up being bored like summer, instead in monsoon you will feel fresh, it’s the only time in the year where you will roam on terraces willingly.
Monsoon has a quality to make people lazy. Yes its true, it makes us slacker. So it’s not at all a bad time to get yourself busy in some lazy and chilled out movies like “Wake up Sid” or “Pyaar ka Punchnama” or “Rocket Singh “. Sometimes we tend to watch movies to make us active in that case watch “Raajneeti” or “Company” or “Satya” gangster flicks are flavor of monsoon.
Watching movies in monsoon has its own charm, has its own fun and the best part is watching a war film makes it perfect. Watch “Border”. It will blow your mind off (we all love Sunny Pajji in border), or I have heard that in monsoon you feel loved so in that case watch “Lootera”, or in some case they also feel low so that time its “Udaan” for you, or if you are in mood of planning watch any road trip movie like “Zindagi na milegi dobara” or “Dil Chahta Hai”.
Being a movie buff I don’t just go for the contemporary cinema only, I tend to go for crossover cinema too or in other words parallel cinema or art house cinema. Movies like “Raincoat”, “Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi” or “Internal Affairs”. So it depends on your mood. Watch it alone as some things are there to be lived and felt alone. So just go to your room switch on your TV, have a mojitos and start a movie… cut!!
