10 Reasons Why School Friends are Better than College Friends

Isn’t really a tough question right? We all are more bonded to our school friends closer than we are to our college friends. Well reasons are pretty simple, let’s have a look

1. We Grow Together

With time the friendship grows stronger and better. Friendship is like a wine, the older it gets the better it tastes. We spend a really long time together and it deepens the bond we share. From nursery to high school or intermediate, they have been a part of our growth.

2. Partners in Crime

Remember when you bunked school to enjoy out in rains, or the day you pretended to be sick to avoid the test? Think hard, who was there beside you, who warned you first but then joined you in your adventure? Yes, that chuddy-buddy of yours, someone you will always hold close to your heart. I am sure a huge grin would have appeared on your face. 

3. No Rivalries

Back then, we used to have healthy competitions. There was no rivalry amongst our gang of friends. We would fight for 1 or 2 marks but even then if our friend would have topped, that made us equally happy.

4. First Success, First Failure

That victory in the cricket match or basketball, that punishment to whole class for not doing homework, we have tasted it together, the victory or losses. We have enjoyed together, celebrated together and have even cried together on each other’s success and failures.

5. Secret Holder

You wanted to be a millionaire businessman or maybe a fashion designer. Don’t deny, you did want it when you were 6. It now may sound silly but then it was a big dream. Can you confess it in front of your college friends? No, but our school friends knew it, were even proud of our dreams too. There lies the difference.

6. No Fear of Being Judged

From kids to adolescents and then to teenagers, they have seen us, our fears, our dreams, our lows, highs everything. We know they will never judge us no matter what. And that is a blessing nowadays to not be around judgmental people.

7. Understanding at it Best

Seeing each other’s in and out, knowing dark side, being a part of happy and sad days etc, we form an amazing understanding towards each other. On any day, our compatibility with school friends will be better than college friends.

8. Selfless Bond

We met each other in a nursery class sitting on same desk or in 3rd standard in a annual day rehearsal and became friends. I mean to say, with school friends e met when we had nothing except our name. We became friends without a logical, social or monetary reason and hence our bonding is selfless and pure.

9. Amazing Comfort Level

They have seen us getting scolded by our father, our teacher or being called chiku, chinky, guddi, bittu by our families. We are most comfortable with them. Even today after growing up, after so many years have passed, I can happily meet my childhood buddies in simple attire, can eat with them on a road-side shop, unlike college friends.

10. A Friend in Need is a Friend Indeed

We learnt it in school, have written essays on this too but understood it in true sense when the school life got over. When we met new people, in the big world outside, we realized not everyone you meet is a friend and nobody helps you without expecting anything in return and then we realize, our true friends were those who always used to stand beside us in every situation.

Not every college friend is bad or selfish, one might get a best friend in college life too but there is something about school friend, our chuddy-buddies that makes them better. Pick up your phone, text them or call them, to tell them they are important part of you, your life and ill always be.
