Ahmedabad: Ahmedabad is one of the fastest growing cities in the world and its Traffic problems need to be addressed as soon as possible. Out of every 100 amdavadis only 18% use the public transport, namely rickshaw’s, buses or Municipal transport services and rest all rely on their personal mode of transport including 2 wheelers and 4 wheelers. Considering the public transport system the city has, ideally 55-60% people should have been using it but on any day, during the peak hours two wheelers contribute 50% of total traffic, creating serious traffic issues in the city.
Incepted in 2005, Yuva Unstoppable started as a small group of enthusiastic individuals in India and has mobilized more than 100,000 ‘young people’ of the country in last 9 years. With the simple aim of creating a better India, YUVA Unstoppable ask young people to contribute 2 hrs every week.
26/11 – Traffic Action Force will felicitate all the traffic police officers across the city
26/11 was a traumatic day for India back in 2008 when a series of twelve coordinated shooting and bombing attacks lasting four days occurred across Mumbai. Ajmal Kasab, the only surviving terrorist, was captured by a Traffic Police and it showcased the brilliant skills from the traffic police department. We want to salute their spirits and give them a round of applause through a kind gesture.
We believe in the work done by our hardworking policeman. Their efforts are worthwhile and as a helping hand to the hardworking policeman of our city, we are taking a step as an effort to improve the overall economy of the country.
On 26th November 2014, the entire participating 600 volunteer base moved out in groups covering 350 locations (Traffic Signal Points) of the city and felicitated 1100 Traffic Police Officers with an appreciation letter, Badge, and a box of sweets. The event was executed with the help of KHS as our CSR partner.
“This was a beautiful activity; no one has ever appreciated the traffic police officers before” Said Harikrishna Patel, DGP, Traffic Police. Traffic police have initiated various brilliant step-by-step processes to help Gujarat have a smooth journey, including easing traffic on office routes and penalizing street vendors. Responsibility of protection and safety of the citizens of Ahmedabad having population about more than 60 lac is on the shoulders of Ahmedabad City Police Force.
“I was really surprised when this group of volunteers approached me. This was very emotional moment for all of us. We felt good” Said Rohit Mistry, Group 17, Pallav Char Rasta Home Guard, Ahmedabad Traffic Police. Yuva Unstoppable was a part of #MyTrafficPledge, an initiative of Ahmedabad Traffic police. We as a youth based movement understand the difficulties faced by police officers and hence we have offered a helping hand to the hardworking police officers of our city. KHS is our CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) partner.
Traffic Action Force (TAF) is an initiative by Yuva Unstoppable where in, the youth of the city and the volunteers from Yuva would help Traffic Police officers in managing the hustle-bustle of the road. This is just the beginning, starting from Ahmedabad; we wish to spread the campaign across Gujarat taking it forward to India.
