So you’re like me and you don’t like how much you weigh. Well, that’s nothing to be ashamed of. That is, as long as you are willing to do something about it. But even if you are willing you don’t know yet what to do and how to do it.
Not to Worry!
Here’s a diet plan that can make you lose up to 8 kilograms in just 7 days. It’s not that easy to lose weight, this diet is no exception. There’s a lot of discipline and hard work involved but if you manage to stick to the plan it will do wonders for you. This is the best vegetarian diet for losing weight. It is called the GM Diet plan. This diet doesn’t only work for losing weight but is also great for maintaining a fitter, more proportionate body.
The diet was developed by the General Motors Inc. employees with an aim to get and keep a healthy physique. You can expect these changes in you with this diet plan:
- Lose around 5 to 8 kilograms in 7 days
- Natural glow to skin
- Reduces the flab around the tummy and waist
The GM Diet Vegetarian Plan
In this diet you will mainly consume fruits, vegetables and starch. In preparation, don’t drink alcohol for a couple of days before starting and avoid it absolutely during the diet. Alcohol will increase uric acid in your body and will result in water retention. This will block the natural detoxification of your body.
It becomes important that you drink around 10 glasses of water per day. It will boost your metabolism and help in the removal of toxins from the body. If you are already on this diet plan it is advised that you wait for 2-3 days before starting it again. Your body needs to adjust to the change in nutritional intake, or it will overwork your systems.
So let’s get on with the actual Diet Plan.
The first step is always the hardest. Maintain control over your urges. You will be eating only fruits. You can have any kind of fruit except grapes, bananas, litchi or mangoes. You don’t have to limit the quantity either. Recommended fruits are: Watermelon, lime, oranges, apples, pomegranates, strawberries and melons. You can eat as much as you want but it should be restricted to only fruits.
This will prepare your body for the coming days. Your only source of nutrition will be fruits. It is important to note that you cannot eat anything with the fruits. If you have a habit of cutting fruits, seasoning them and eating them then you shouldn’t do it. You have to eat plain, simple fruits all day. If you limit yourself to only melons you can even lose upto a kilogram on day 1.
Now this day you will eat only vegetables. You will be consuming nothing but vegetables all day. No limits on quantities either. Boil them or eat them raw. You can start your day with a boiled potato and a teaspoon of butter. This will give you enough carbohydrates and energy for the day. But do not consume anything besides raw or boiled veggies for the rest of the day. You can add a pinch of oregano or basil to add a little taste to your food.
This is a calorie free day. The vegetables also provide with a good amount of fiber and nutrients. Make it through this day and give yourself a pat on the back, you’re doing well.
Now we combine day 1 and 2. Eat as much of the fruits and vegetables that we mentioned as you like. Drink lots of water. No potatoes though, the fruits will give you all you need to get through the day. Now your system is ready to shed those extra pounds. Keep your cravings locked up somewhere in the basement and hang a picture of your fitter self in the drawing room of your mind. Keep going on.
All that fruits and vegetables will leave your body lacking in sodium and potassium. It’s time to give it what it wants. You can eat up to 6 bananas and drink up to 4 glasses of milk on the fourth day. Bananas are thought of as fruits that will make you gain weight but you need the nutrients. You haven’t had salt for 3 days and you need to restock. Bananas will do the trick.
If you want, you can make a very watery soup of capsicum, onions, garlic and tomatoes. It’s fairly tasty and will help you lose weight. But you can only have one cup of this soup a day, no more. This is only to keep the tastelessness out of your days and keep the cravings at bay.
On the fifth day you can get some taste in your food as you can have tomatoes, sprouts and some cottage cheese. Soya chunks can be added too. Make a soup of these things and eat it. Do increase your water intake for day 5.
Up to 6 tomatoes and increase in the water intake can be had with only 1/4th of the daily consumption. This will help remove uric acid from the body. The tomatoes provide the fiber and the water will flush out the toxins.
Same as Day 5 but without tomatoes. You can have some vegetables too. You will eat sprouts, cottage cheese and other vegetables this day. Make a soup and have lots of water. That should get you through the day.
By this day you should feel noticeably healthier than before.
Day 7 brings you fruit juices. You can have fresh fruit juices, half a chapatti, some vegetables and a cup of brown rice for this day. A treat! Do not forget to drink a good amount of water
That’s it. This is the GM Diet Plan. Follow this for 7 days and you will have a healthier, slimmer body.
A few points to keep in mind when you are on the diets:
- Fruits juices are a strict no for first 6 days. Increase your water intake gradually to 15 glasses by the fifth day.
- No tea, coffee or alcohol for the 7 days. Black tea, black coffee and lime water are acceptable but without sugar.
- For better results, try to do some exercise for 45 minutes each day.
- If you’re doing this for some occasion then do it 2 months in advance with 2-3 days gap between each cycle.
- Vegetables can be had as a salad or eaten raw. Squeeze a lemon, add some herbs or garlic to it to make it tastier. But nothing else.
