Sasan Gir (Gujarat) is pride of India as it is the only home to Asiatic lions. In the beginning of 20th century, they had been hunted so excessively that only 20 remained. But the number of these lions has reached to more than 523 today, thanks to the constant conservation efforts of the government.
London based ZSL Zoo has recently introduced new attraction ‘Land of the lions’, which is replica of Sasan Gir. The zoo was gifted four lions by the Government of Gujarat. HM The Queen and HRH The Duke inaugurated the ‘Land of the lions’ on 17th March, which will open for public on 25th March.
The exhibit made in 2500 sqm have Indian themed areas, including a train station, crumbling temple clearing, high street and guard hut. The exhibit currently has four Asiatic lions, Bhanu, Rubi, Heidi and Indi. Let’s visit the exhibit through photos.
