Government Releases National Anthem in Sign Language Featuring Amitabh Bachchan

The last time our National Anthem was making rounds of the news was when it was declared mandatory to be played before each film screening. Whether you agree or disagree with that, you’ll definitely love this progressive move taken by the Indian Government. Our own Mahendra Nath Pandey, Union Minister, released the video 5 days from the day that marks our independence. Mr. Pandey assured us that the government recognized the physically challenged not as ‘viklang’, but rather as ‘divyang’ so as to make sure there was no discrimination. The minister of state for human resource said,

“This is a proud moment for us that the National Anthem has been produced in sign language for those who depend on it. We used to refer to people falling in the category as disabled (viklang), but now the government has modified the definition to divyang.”

The video, set in front of the Red Fort stars pan-India favourite, Amitabh Bachchan, accompanied by several physically challenged children all of whom perform the Indian National Anthem in sign language.

Take a look at the video yourself, it truly is heartwarming.
