Feel-Good movies never fail to impress. Shitty exam? Ex ruined your day? Zindagi jhand? Well there’s a simple solution for all that. Sometimes a movie is so captivating, that it can uplift you and brighten your day (or night, depends). They remind you that you have some purpose on this rock floating in the sky, and can always boost your mood. So chin up, and try watching these feel-good films this weekend.
1. Forrest Gump
An era-defining film, Forrest Gump tells the tale of the namesake, who happens to be not as quick witted as everyone else, but what he lacks in brains, he makes up for with his kind heartedness and good nature. You can’t miss this one.
2. School of Rock
When an small-time rock enthusiast subs in for his friend as a teacher (for which he is barely qualified) he brings about a whole new way of learning, rock. He trains his students to become the best band ever, which leads to several hijinks. Watch this when you’ve lost hope in education.
3. Sing Street
Another musical, this one’s for all the hopeless romantics out there. Struggling with poverty, personal issues, and life’s usual woes, the hero forms a band to try and woo a girl he sees on the street.
When a 5-star chef loses his job, he chooses a humble restart in the form a food truck. Turns out losing his job might as well have been the best thing that’s happened to him, bringing him closer to his family. Your job isn’t everything, remember that.
5. The Intouchables
When a disabled French nobleman ends up with an immigrant fresh off the streets as his caretaker, an unexpected friendship is formed, and the tomfoolery that follows will definitely bring up your spirits.
A touching film about an autism-ridden boy, who’s a math prodigy. This film follows on him and his mother’s journey to Taiwan for a math competition. Tearjerker for sure.
7. I Love You, Man
One of my favorite buddy comedies, ‘I Love You, Man’ will surely be relatable to all those guys who hold their bromances close at heart. Based around the hero’s wedding, obviously him and the best man are going to strengthen their bond over this period.
8. Into The Wild
Based on a true story, ‘Into The Wild’ can’t be described by words. All I can say is that its a beautiful film where a fresh graduate leaves everything behind to go on a hitchhiking adventure.
9. About Time
Wouldn’t we all love to have the power to time-travel? ‘About Time’ tells the story of a man who finds out all the men in his family have the power to do so, and obviously, like all men he uses it to pursue his romantic interest.
10. Groundhog Day
Another wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey movie, ‘Groundhog Day’ stars Bill Murray as he wakes up to the same day, everyday. Stuck in this time loop, he starts to relook life all together.
