Why The Film Industry Needs To Get Its Shit Together

Hollywood has been on fire lately. All starting with a few brave women speaking out and letting the world know about the dark underbelly of the film industry by naming Harvey Weinstein as a sexual predator. And once the floodgates opened, there was no stopping.

We all knew the industry was shady, but we didn’t that it was so to this extent!

First, it led to the #MeToo campaign. When everyone else saw how courageous the women speaking out were, people all around the world were suddenly not afraid to do so.

Then came the avalanche. Everyone was shown the true colors of this dark, dark industry. World renowned actor Kevin Spacey was accused of sexual misconduct against minors.

Louis C.K., everyone’s favorite comedian was also accused of sexual harassment. This list of predators just goes on and on, with a new name popping up almost everyday.

On the other side of the coin, many celebrities who were victim to such atrocities are now coming out, stepping up, and taking action.

While this has been an eye-opener for the world, things like this happening in such a huge industry is totally unacceptable. While the LAPD has started a task force for this ongoing issue, one can only wonder if the industry can ever be squeaky clean. It’s pretty evident that they need to get their shit together. A professional working environment should never be one where someone can get targeted like that. (Neither should any other place to be very honest).

With unions and committees popping up for every little thing, why can’t there be one for the film industry, which could possibly set down some rules in place. Long gone is the time where rich stars and execs in Hollywood could do whatever they pleased. We need a change, and we need it now.
